They help us keep you signed in, remember your preferences, tell where our visitors come from, and understand how people use the product so we can make it faster and more reliable. This policy covers our website, the developer console, and the Vaquill application. The API itself (api.vaquill.ai) is called with a key, not a browser session, and sets no cookies.

3.1 Essential Cookies
Purpose: These cookies are necessary for our website to function properly.
Examples: Session management, security, language preferences
Duration: Session or up to 1 year
Can be disabled: No (website won't work properly)
3.2 Analytics Cookies
Purpose: Help us understand how people navigate the website and product so we can improve it.
Examples: PostHog (product analytics), Google Analytics 4 and Google Tag Manager, page views, aggregated feature usage
Duration: Up to 12 months

3.3 Functional Cookies
Purpose: Remember your preferences and settings.
Examples: Language selection, text size, dark/light mode

4. Third-Party Cookies
We may use third-party services that set their own cookies:
4.1 PostHog (Product Analytics)
We use PostHog to understand aggregated product usage and improve Vaquill AI. PostHog events are org-scoped and never include the content of your documents, prompts, or API queries.
4.2 Google (Tag Manager, Analytics, Ads)
We use Google Tag Manager, Google Analytics 4, and Google Ads conversion tags on our marketing website to count visits, see which pages and sources perform, and measure ad campaigns. Google receives the page, referrer, and cookie and device identifiers. You can opt out with Google’s browser add-on or by blocking these cookies.
4.3 Meta Pixel and Reddit Pixel
We use the Meta Pixel and the Reddit Pixel to measure our advertising on those platforms and to see whether a visit led to a signup. They set their own cookies and send page-view and conversion events to Meta and Reddit. Under some privacy laws, that counts as “sharing” personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. See Section 6 for how to opt out.
4.4 Referral Cookies
When you arrive through a link carrying a referral parameter, we set two first-party cookies, vq_via and vq_ref, for 90 days. If you sign up in that time, the referral is recorded against your account so the referrer can be credited. We set them only on a visit that carries a referral parameter. No other visit receives them.
4.5 Social Media Plugins
If you share our legal information on social media, those platforms may set their own cookies.

6. Cookie Choices and Your Rights
We do not show a cookie banner. The tags in Section 4 load when you visit the marketing website unless your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal. You control them through your browser: clear or block cookies, use a tracker-blocking extension, or turn on a browser setting that blocks third-party cookies. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, the advertising tags (Google Tag Manager, Google Ads, Meta, Reddit) are not loaded (see our Privacy Policy).
If you are a resident of California, Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Texas, Utah, or another US state with a consumer privacy law, you have the right to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of your personal information (including certain uses of advertising cookies). To exercise these rights, email contact@vaquill.ai with the subject “Do Not Sell or Share.” If you are in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland and want to withdraw consent to non-essential cookies, use the same address.
7. Impact of Disabling Cookies
If you disable cookies, you may experience:
- Having to sign in again and reset your preferences on each visit
- Slower website performance
- Some settings not being remembered between sessions
